Cheryl Wolfe, left, a member of the committee for Ladies Night Out sponsored by the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce last October, presented two checks recently to Judy Buckner Larry, Director of the Philippi Public Library.  One check represented the library’s share of the proceeds from Ladies Night Out.  The second was financial undergirding for the library’s “Breakfast at Whoville”,  part of the Chamber’s budgeted annual support for promotions in the Philippi area.

One hundred-forty-eight women attended Ladies Night Out at the Junior Volunteer Fire Department on October 20th, along with 30 vendors.  The evening fund-raising effort was the first for the Chamber and enjoyed 21 sponsors.  The Ladies Night Out committee reported proceeds from ticket sales, a live auction, a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, raffles, and wine-tasting.  Catering was provided by KFC.  The committee’s accomplished-objective was to help the Philippi and Belington libraries and assist the Chamber’s scholarship program at Philip Barbour High School.  The Chamber also provides annual support for business promotions in both Philippi and Belington.
