Lars Byrne, the Senior Dispatcher for the Durbin & Greenbrier Railroad, will discuss the latest developments in tourist trains during a luncheon meeting at the Medallion Restaurant in Philippi on Thursday, September 12, 2019.

Byrne, who is also a licensed Conductor and former locomotive engineer, will describe the addition of new track from Durbin to Cass, new schedules from Belington, Elkins, Durbin and Cass, the certification of steam locomotives, and the latest tourist trains from Elkins to Bald Knob in Pocahontas County , the third-highest mountain in West Virginia. 

Lunch will be available from the Medallion’s menu or from the daily hot-bar starting at 11:30 a.m. The program will begin promptly at noon.  The public is invited.  Pre-paid reservations are not required, but for planning purposes those who wish to attend are asked to notify the sponsoring Chamber of Commerce office by telephone at 457-1958 or by email at   This email address is being protected from spambots. Lars Byrne is the son of Al Byrne, the former publisher of the Barbour Democrat and served the Barbour Publishing Company until his current assignments with the Durbin & Greenbrier Railroad.  He is a native of Barbour County, graduate of county schools, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Alderson Broaddus College in 1972.
