William D. Johnson was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and raised in Philippi.  Following graduation from Philip Barbour High School he operated heavy equipment for area coal mines for eleven years, returning to Fairmont State University where he earned an Associate Degree in Accounting and a Bachelor’s Degree Cum Laude in Accounting and Computer Science.

After completing his CPA exam, Johnson was a Branch Manager for the Quality Insurance Company, Industrial Fire & Casualty Company, and Oak Casualty Insurance Company, all in Fairmont.  He was Chief Financial Officer for the West Virginia National Insurance Company in Morgantown for five years before opening his own accounting office on Main Street in Philippi in 2003.

A member of the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, William D. Johnson, CPA, provides individual and business tax return preparation, small business accounting, new business consultations, and computerized payroll services.  With 30-years of experience with accounting software, he assists clients in setting up computerized accounting systems and with the subsequent processing of transactions utilizing QuickBooks accounting software.

Johnson completes more than the minimum number of required continuing educations hours each year, he says, which keeps him current with the ever-changing tax laws and improved technologies which prepare him to assist his clients to manage their business.  William D. Johnson, CPA, is located at 41 South Main Street in Philippi, telephone (304) 457-5500.

Teresa Surock, one of the new owners of Bryan Brothers Memorials in Philippi, purchased the business in 2016, and provides monument sales and service, including granite monuments, vases, engravings, and restoration.  Surock completed an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Indiana Business College, and has twenty-one years in the granite industry, while her husband, the co-owner, has twenty eight years.  The Surocks also own monument businesses in Mount Clare and Parsons, West Virginia.

Teresa Surock was born and raised in Tucker County, and, with her husband, is the proud parent of a U. S. Navy sailor, Joshua.  “We would be privileged to assist you in selecting a monument to properly honor your loved one,” she says, “and can help you choose the right memorial in your chosen price range which is customized to your specifications and adheres to cemetery regulations.  We offer many years of experience in the granite industry,” she says.
