The Annual Banquet Meeting of the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce originally planned for Wednesday, August 5th, has been postponed, according to Chamber President Dr. Tim Barry, and will be held some time in the spring of 2021.
This year’s planned speaker and program participants have all been notified, he said, but the annual awards, which were to have been presented during the banquet, will be delivered individually throughout the coming summer. These will include the Corporate Citizen and Community Service awards chosen by the membership, as well as the President’s Award and special recognition determined by the Board of Directors.
The Chamber will also recognize the Barbour County public school Teacher of the Year and Service Person of the Year, while Alderson Broaddus University will honor its student-elected Faculty Person of the Year.
This year’s Annual Golf Tournament at the Barbour Country Club, he said, will run as scheduled on Friday, September 11th. Proceeds from the tournament fund academic scholarships for graduates of Philip Barbour High School. Hole sponsorships and team registrations are still available.
