Dr. Tim Barry, left, President of the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce, presented the Chamber Special Director’s Award to entrepreneur Kevin Lyons recently at his Medallion Restaurant.
The award originally would have been given at the cancelled Chamber’s Annual Banquet.
Kevin Lyons is the owner and manager of multiple businesses and has been for many years. He provides employment to many local citizens as well as a variety of services which are vital to the community. In his “spare time” he entertains children and the general public with his professional magic shows.
Lyons is one of several member-restaurants taking advantage of the pandemic shut-down to renovate his Medallion Restaurant. For the past five weeks, he has been re-painting the interior, re-covering the booths, and deep-cleaning the kitchen, carpeting and service areas. He has installed new lighting in parts of the dining room and updated the restrooms. He will open fully, he says, when health conditions allow and plans to redecorate with pictures of old scenes of Barbour County, local families, school reunions, and other historical subjects. Anyone with photos they would like to see displayed are asked to contact the restaurant on Facebook, the Medallion Restaurant website or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
