
Friday, September 11th will see the return of the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament to the Barbour Country Club.
A registration fee of $280 per team covers golf, the use of a cart, door prizes, and eligibility for skills prizes and for the hole-in-one prize of $ 10,000. Complimentary lunches will again be provided by Broaddus Hospital, cold beverages by the Barbour Health Association, and hole-in-one insurance courtesy of Allegheny Insurance. The winning team will receive $ 300 in cash, the runners-up $ 200.
Hole sponsorships of $ 100 per hole have already been received from Angel’s Arsenal, the Barbour County Development Association, Barbour Community Health, Freedom Bank, Kaiser’s Coffee and Candy, Premier Bank, Mace’s Pharmacies, and Barbour County Commissioners Susie Cvechko, Tim McDaniel and Jamie Carpenter. All proceeds are earmarked for academic and camp scholarships for students at Philip Barbour High School.
Team registration will run in person from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the club on U. S. 219 South of Philippi. A shotgun start is scheduled to go off at 10:00 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, the longest drive, the longest putt, and for a hole-in-one.
