
The Barbour County Chamber of Commerce will be the first to experience the new dining hall at Alderson Broaddus University during its Annual Chamber Banquet on Wednesday, September 8th. Festivities will begin with a punch bowl reception for the speaker, Rick Rock, beginning at 6:00 O’Clock, followed by a sit-down dinner starting at 6:30 p.m.
Special guests for this year’s in-person banquet include Rev. Sam Haught, minister of the Crim Memorial Methodist Church, Fr. Patsy Iaquinta, retired from St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, and U. S. Army and Navy veteran Mike Holliday, owner of WELLSMART. Organist Rick Kennedy will provide live dinner music while the Future Business Leaders of America Club at Philip Barbour High School will assist with the distribution of door prizes provided by the membership. The Ruf Family will sing.
Corporate Citizen, Community Service and Directors Special Awards will be presented as well as awards to the Barbour County Teach and Service Person of the Year. The Alderson Broaddus University Faculty Member of the Year will be honored along with recipients of the President’s and Smith Awards. New officers will be elected.
Rick Rock is the Director of the North Central West Virginia Airport and serves as the volunteer Treasurer of the Benedum Airport Authority. He is a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Business Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizen Academy. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and has served as the Executive Director of the Harrison County Emergency Squad since 2001. He was named the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the year in 2016 where he is a former member of their Board of Directors.
