
Dr. Tim Barry, left, President of Alderson Broaddus University and President of the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce, presented the Chamber’s engraved crystal apple to Yi Chin, the member of the ABU faculty nominated and selected by the students as the university’s Teacher of the Year in 2020-21.
Dr. Chin is a popular member of the university’s Science Department and well-known nationally for his research in the field of cancer.
When introduced to the student body during the recent fall convocation, the President of the university’s Student Government Association said, “This year’s recipient remains available to students for advice and counsel even during graduate school and beyond, and is known for going above and beyond for students. He has an open door and a friendly greeting for all students. He inspires us to examine issues and questions on a scientific level and to look for new solutions to the problems our society faces.
Dr. Chin challenges and pushes students to be the best they can be every day,” he said. “He is a fount of immense knowledge in his field, and loves to share that knowledge with others. Students learn first-hand as they assist him in his ground-breaking research in ovarian cancer.”
