Incoming President Hunter Mullens of the law firm of Mullens & Mullens, left, presented the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce Past President’s Award to Dr. Tim Barry, outgoing President of the Chamber and President of Alderson Broaddus University.
The award, in the form of an engraved walnut plaque, incorporates a full-size working walnut gavel. The award recognizes Dr. Barry’s three full years of outstanding leadership and service to the community and to the Chamber as President.
Dr. Tim Barry is the 10th President of Alderson Broaddus University, having been appointed by the university’s Board of Trustees in 2015. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, and a Master’s and Doctor of Education Degree from Northern Illinois University. He was President of the St. Edmond School System in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Council of Independent Colleges.
Dr. Barry is a current member of the Executive Committee of the Appalachian College Association, Past President of Independent College Enterprise, and President of the West Virginia Independent College and Universities Association. He and his wife Ronda have two children and four grandchildren who reside in the Kansas City area.
