“Here at the Perfectly Pampered Salon,” she says, “we believe in giving back to the community. In the past we have sponsored the Stuff the Bus campaign and Be a Santa to a Senior. Currently we have a “Blessings Box” in front of the salon and the community has been very helpful in keeping this box filled. The need,” she says, “is great and donations at any time are greatly appreciated.”
“The Tygart Valley United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community,” says Daniels. “We bring people and organizations together to create innovative solutions to complex social issues by raising dollars to invest in the resources that will tackle these problems in order to create positive and sustainable change together. We strive to improve people’s heath, assist children and youth to achieve their potential, and promote financial stability and independence.”
The Tygart Valley United Way also sponsors an annual coat drive called, “Warm Coats Warm Hearts” and funds the “211 Line”, a free and confidential service that connects area residents to critical health and social service resources. The agency helps stock school pantries with hygiene items for children, and provides tax preparation assistance with VITA and My Free Taxes.Com. United Way also maintains Born Learning Trails in parks as an interactive, playful, and visible tool for the community to change strategy, boost children’s language and literacy skills, and encourage families to get active.
