Lilah Phillips, right, Vice President of BC Bank in Philippi, accepted the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce Corporate Citizen of the Year Award during the Chamber’s recent annual banquet.

Presenting the engraved crystal obelisk was Chamber President attorney Hunter Mullens.

The Corporate Citizen of the Year is nominated and elected by the total Chamber membership and honors the business member who has made a significant contribution to the good of Barbour County during the year 2021.  BC Bank was recognized for providing leadership and stability for local businesses during the recent Covid pandemic.

BC Bank “went above and beyond”, Mullens said, “in providing a quick and easy route for enrollment in the Paycheck Protection Program while other communities suffered while waiting for this important program.  The bank made a real difference in the life of our local businesses and, indeed, in the life of our community.”
