Dr. Kenneth Yount, a retired Alderson Broaddus Professor and Vice President for Academic Affairs, will be introduced at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet at Alderson Broaddus on May 9.

Yount has lived in Philippi for over 50 years, returning each time from visits to all seven continents, including Antarctica, where he bested 189 contestants to win the title of Poet Laureate of Antarctica.  A National Merit Scholar, Yount graduated with honors from six colleges and universities, worked for the U. S. Government and two daily newspapers, and met with the British Prime Minister, two Vatican Popes, and the President of the United States.  He has a wife, Carol, three married daughters, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
